Now he wants to go to Congress.

Randy Villegas Mugshot

1

The warning signs were already there

Dejaun Jones had been terminated by Visalia Unified in 2013 from his position as girls' track coach at Mt. Whitney High School after police investigated him for sending inappropriate text messages to a student-athlete. Police also investigated inappropriate messages to students at another high school.¹

2

Villegas voted to hire him anyway

While serving on the Visalia school board, Randy Villegas voted “aye” to hire Jones, putting him back at Mt. Whitney High School. A history of inappropriate conduct should have been a warning. Villegas's vote put him back around children.¹

3

Then history repeated itself

Six months after the vote, police arrested Jones for molesting a 15-year-old student and receiving explicit content from the underage victim. Jones pleaded guilty to all 11 felony counts and was sentenced to five years in prison.¹ ²
